Hello, my name is Alison a registered nutritional therapist & health coach. I specialise in helping women and children to eat well, live well and transform their health so they can live their best lives.

Clients tell me changing their diet has been a life-changing experience, that taking back control and making even small changes has made a massive difference. I have also experienced the power of nutrition first-hand and a transformation in my own health. I have always cooked for pleasure but after being diagnosed with breast cancer in 1997, I started to seriously investigate food and its links to and effects on health.
This experience was a catalyst for a career change from primary education to qualified nutritionist, studying at the world-renowned Institute for Optimum Nutrition (ION). I have now worked as a nutritional therapist in clinical practice for more than 10 years and loved every minute! I currently run clinical sessions for undergraduate nutrition students at ION and lecture on child health.
My clinical experience has covered many areas of nutrition including cardiovascular health, blood sugar balance, food allergies and intolerances, thyroid and hormonal imbalances, inflammation, stress and digestive issues – my main areas of research are immunity, hormones and digestive health as these play such an important part in so many health conditions.
Children’s health is of special interest, helping with conditions and issues that, sometimes, conventional medicine isn’t able to address. This quite often means including the whole family to help them make the transition to healthier eating and better health. I ran the Children’s Specialist Clinic at the Institute for Optimum Nutrition for over six years, during which time I lectured ION students and spoke at conferences on children’s health.
Throughout my career I have always been keen to keep up-to-date with latest research and best practice. Functional Medicine, a scientific, evidence-based approach to healthcare, is an area I have studied in depth and I’ve found a powerful way to support health.
I am also passionate about sustainability and conservation – my education experience includes over 10 years working for WWF (World Wildlife Fund) running their school and youth visits programme. Sustainability and food choices that are healthy for people and the planet runs through my ethos when planning diets and devising recipes.
I am a member of The British Association for Nutrition and Lifestyle Medicine (BANT) and registered with The Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC). Qualifications and experience are, of course, important, but I have found the best results come from providing a caring, sensitive and non-judgemental approach to food and health issues.
